Gateway Casinos Sudbury was successful enough in the fourth quarter (Jan. 1 to March 31) to allow payments totalling $494,781 to the City of Greater Sudbury.
The funds are awarded following a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario, and is part of the almost $50 million the city has received since November 1999.
The recently closed fiscal year found the city receive $1,826,565.
“For decades, profits from gaming have been an important source of funding for Ontario communities, helping to deliver vital services and making a real difference for gaming host municipalities,” Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy said in a media release.
“This is one of the many different ways Ontario continues to create good-paying, local jobs that play a critical role in supporting our economy, while ensuring a socially responsible gaming environment for people to enjoy.”
