Guelph Police are investigating the death of a University of Guelph student at a campus residence Tuesday morning.
Few details were released, but in a news release on its web site the U of G said the cause of death is unknown and under investigation.
Const. Mike Gatto of the Guelph Police Service said they received a call at 9:26 a.m. Tuesday.
He said police are investigating a sudden death but that no further details were being released. He declined to name the residence the incident occurred in until the family of the student involved had been notified.
"At this time there is no indication of public safety risk," the U of G said in its news bulletin.
"The student's name has not been made public pending notification of all family members."
"We are deeply saddened by this news, and my heart goes out to the family and friends of this student," U of G president Franco Vaccarino said.
"As a community, there is no greater struggle than losing one of our own, and we will ensure that students affected by this tragedy receive support and assistance."
The U of G counseling services is working with Student Housing Services to provide support for other students living in the residence.
