Sudburians who created kids’ Christmas book looking for Kickstarter backers

‘Pax and the Perfect Christmas Tree’ inspired by a cherished family tradition

Sudburians Caroline Long and Marc Lariviere have teamed up to create a kids’ Christmas book, but now they’re reaching out to the public to fund the project.

You can check out the Kickstarter campaign online here.

A press release said the book, “Pax and the Perfect Christmas Tree,” introduces a holiday family tradition, filled with wonder and excitement that will create memories that last a lifetime.

This children’s book with a special gift was inspired by a family tradition where author Caroline Long’s husband Jason and his siblings would search for the perfect pinecone in the forest each holiday season.

This pinecone was then placed in a bowl of water before they went to bed. Jason’s dad would then put up the family’s tree and the next morning they all awoke to a fully-grown Christmas tree in its place.

“This tradition always resonated with me and I really wanted to find a way to share the experience with others,” said Long. “I reached out to my friend and co-creator Marc; a talented illustrator and children’s educator, to help bring the story of Pax and the Perfect Christmas Tree to life.”

Readers tag along with Christmas Elf Pax and his friend Arden as they travel the globe on an unforgettable journey that brings out the child in everyone.

Each package comes with a special edition of the book and one to three magical pinecones, depending on the option chosen.

The story and illustrations are complete, a publisher has been sourced, test copies have been printed and magical pinecones have been secured. The duo is now looking to officially pull the project together via a Kickstarter campaign.

“Being able to share the launch of this project with those in our hometown means so much to both Caroline and I,” said illustrator and co-creator Mark Lariviere.

“Sudbury is such a growing and warm community, we are so proud to both come from and stay connected to through our families in the area. I can’t think of a better place to kick-off this news.”
