Car burns at South End Walmart Tuesday afternoon

Nobody hurt in blaze, which was quickly extinguished by firefighters

A car fire at the South End Walmart Tuesday afternoon attracted a lot of attention from shoppers, with several posting photos on the Facebook community message board Valley East.

According to Greater Sudbury Fire Services Platoon Chief Terry Larocque, firefighters were called to the scene at 1:49 p.m. on July 25.

One fire truck responded, and firefighters put the fire out with foam.

“It was just a car fire, and nobody was hurt,” he said. “It was extinguished quite easily.”

Car fires are normally caused by electrical or mechanical problems, he said.
