Dozens of CUPE members gathered in front of Sudbury MPP Glenn Thibeault's office on Nov. 2 to protest Health Sciences North's decision to move change their laundry service provider to a Hamilton-based company next April.
The message from the crowd was loud and clear, that they wanted jobs such as this to be kept in the North.
The move will eliminate as many as 36 jobs locally and the crowd on hand Tuesday afternoon loudly voiced their displeasure.
Health Sciences North confirmed on Oct. 5 it plans to switch to a different provider for its laundry services, based in southern Ontario, in a bid expected to save $500,000 a year.
