Volunteers are still needed for Downtown Sudbury Ribfest, happening Labour Day long weekend, Sept. 1-3, in the city’s core.

Volunteers are needed for the following areas: event setup, event tear down, children’s area, green team/maintenance, site patrol, beverage sales and servers (Smart Serve certificate required) and the Car & Motorcycle Show.

The festival, in support of the Red Cross, runs Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with set-up starting Thursday morning. Various shifts are available throughout the four days, and co-ordinators are happy to work with your schedule if you would like to donate your time.

While a committee of dedicated individuals plan the event, volunteers are a driving force behind Downtown Sudbury Ribfest being a success. In 2016, more than 150 community members came out to get involved in the festival, completing more than 600 hours of volunteer services over four days.

Volunteering for events in Sudbury is an amazing opportunity to meet people, give back to the community and have fun, especially for those who are new to the community or looking to branch out of their usual social circles, a press release said.

Interested individuals are asked to register by phoning Downtown Sudbury at 705-674-5115, dropping by the office located at 115 Larch Street, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. or emailing [email protected].

Registration sheets are also available online at DowntownSudbury.com.
