Richard Pigeau was 54 when he died at the 1,660-metre level of the mine. His funeral will be at the Cooperative Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

According to his obituary, he loved watching the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Blue Jays, and enjoyed spending time on this boat, listening to music, and reading.

But most of all, he cherished his time with his two grandchildren, Kamron and Peyton Tessier.

In lieu of flowers, Pigeau's family has asked those attending his funeral to make donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association.

“It was something he felt strongly about,” the obituary said.

After Pigeau's death, the Ministry of Labour sent two inspectors to the mine to find out what had gone wrong.

The results from that investigation have not yet been released.
