These Sudbury retailers are offering curbside pickup or online orders

A state of emergency in the province due to COVID-19 that has shuttered the storefronts of businesses considered “non-essential” has made it increasingly difficult for business owners to connect with customers.

While the majority of businesses that supply products to the public have adopted online platforms in place of a physical storefront, not everyone has the ability or financial means to access the internet.

In addition to that barrier, Canada Post has adapted its parcel delivery so that any items that require proof of age, identification or customs payments, will be sent directly to a retail post office.

This move potentially affects the ability of some to access this service.

To support local commerce and consumers, Sudbury.com wants to put together a list of all businesses offering curbside pickup.

  • Castle Plumbing & Heating: 581 Edna St., 705-671-8014. Offering curbside pickup for all plumbing, heating, water filtration and water pump products. Payment can be made through e-transfer or over the phone using VISA or Mastercard. Service calls will continue with increased safety measures in place.
  • Kelly Lake Building Supplies: 22 Brady St., 705-674-5283. Offering free curbside pickup and paid delivery for orders placed by email or over the phone. There will be no delivery offered to occupied residences during this time, with the exception of garages. 
  • Firechek Protection Services: 1007 Lorne St., 705-673-9882. Orders can be placed over the phone or through email for curbside pickup. Payment can be made through e-transfer or over the phone using a credit card. 
  • Sudbury Steam Cleaners: 208 Walnut St., 705-645-6445. Offering curbside pickup and drop-off as well as the option to have items collected and delivered to one's home. Orders can be placed over the phone or by email. 
  • Maslack Supply Ltd.: Offering curbside pickup for orders placed over the phone using a VISA/ debit or credit card at five locations in Greater Sudbury. Check the website for details.
  • PC Paramedics: 324 Elm St., 705-586-3010, offering computer repairs and upgrads with curbside drop-off and pickup, and delivery for seniors.

  • Le Petit Panier: 280 Caswell Dr., 705-523-5601. Offering curbside pickup and contactless deliveries for orders placed online, over the phone, by email or through social media. 
  • Leinala's Finnish Bakery: 272 Caswell Drive (off Regent Street), 705-522-1977. Open for curbside pickup and contactless delivery. Open Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • The Candy Store, 154 Durham Street, offers curbside on Tuesdays. Private message through the store's Facebook page to order and arrange for pickup. Only e-transfers or exact change accepted.
