The first public input meeting held by the Rainbow District School Board as it considers closing up to 12 of its schools as part of its accommodation review is being held this evening.

The meeting gets underway starting at 6 p.m. at Lively District Secondary School. The board is looking at closing that school as soon as next fall.

A press release said “individuals will have an opportunity to obtain information and provide input by completing a feedback form (printed or online) and/or coming forward to speak.”

There's also several other similar upcoming public meetings being held by the board on the subject of school closures.

That includes at Chelmsford Valley District Composite School Oct. 20, Lasalle Secondary School Oct. 24, Confederation Secondary School Oct. 27, Espanola High School Nov. 3 and Sudbury Secondary School Nov. 7.

Members of the public are also invited to make presentations on the changes the board is planning at the board's Dec. 12 meeting. Trustees will make a decision at their Jan. 17 meeting.
