The city is currently looking for people to register for the annual Clean Up Blitz, set to take place from 9 to 11 a.m. on May 7.

Registrations are being accepted until April 29, and more information can be found by clicking here. The forms are also available at any Citizen Service Centre or library and more information can also be found by phoning the city’s help line at 311.

Those who register are supplied with safety vests, gloves and garbage bags. Safety vests are expected to be returned after the event.

Participants are also required to sign off on a number of safety requirements, such as their pledge to wear gloves, thick-soled closed shoes, long pants and long-sleeved shirts as well as safety vests or bright colours and work using the buddy system. They are also asked to not pick up hazardous materials such as hypodermic needles.

The names of participants listed on waiver forms are entered in a draw to win prizes.
