reThink Green has announced that the 12th annual Greater Sudbury Earth Day Festival will be held on June 3 in Memorial Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The outdoor event typically welcomes over 700 visitors and features a variety of environmental, holistic and community-focused organizations and businesses.

It also offers live music, children’s activities and great local food.

“Hosting the event in June has opened up numerous opportunities for development and collaboration,” said Leigha Benford, Events Coordinator for reThink Green. “Of course, we still celebrate Earth Day in April, but now the Greater Sudbury Earth Day Festival can grow into one of Sudbury’s favourite outdoor, early summer events.”

The 2017 Greater Sudbury Earth Day Festival will be held the same week as the UN World Environment Day, which is being hosted by Canada this year.

“There are a few other excellent events happening downtown the same day as the Earth Day Festival, and even more throughout the week,” said Rebecca Danard, Executive Director for reThink Green. “I think the community will really enjoy being able to experience multiple celebrations that carry the same environmental theme.”

reThink Green is currently accepting vendors for the event, and welcomes all environmental, holistic and community-focused organizations and businesses to share their work at the Greater Sudbury Earth Day Festival.
