Seven new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Greater Sudbury

Public Health Sudbury & Districts is reporting seven new COVID-19 cases in residents in the service area (Greater Sudbury, Sudbury District, and Manitoulin District).

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the area to 25. All of the cases were exposed to the virus through international travel and/or close contact. 

All seven of the latest cases are currently self-isolating, with six in Greater Sudbury and one in the Sudbury District.

  • Case number 19 is a man in his 30s who was exposed to the virus by international travel. He was tested on March 27.
  • Case number 20 is a woman in her 50s who was exposed through international travel. She was tested on March 26.
  • Case number 21 is a woman in her 70s who was exposed by international travel and close contact. She was tested on March 28.
  • Case number 22 is a man in his 50s who was exposed by international travel. He was tested on March 30.
  • Case number 23 is a woman in her 60s who was exposed by international travel and close contact. She was tested on March 27 and is the lone case from the Sudbury District.
  • Case number 24 is a person under the age of 19 whose gender is not specified. They came in close contact with another case and were tested on March 31.
  • Case number 25 is a woman in her 40s who came in close contact with another case. She was tested on April 1.

For anyone who traveled in the last 14 days, visit the Public Health Agency of Canada website for daily for updates on COVID-19 exposures on flights, cruise ships, and mass gatherings.

In addition, Public Health updated its online reporting today to indicate that two patients who previously tested positive are now considered “resolved” according to current public health criteria.
