Sudburians gather in numbers to rally against pandemic restrictions

Worldwide Rally for Freedom draws a crowd to Bell Park

A group of around 200 Sudburians gathered across the street from Bell Park on May 15 to take part in the "Worldwide Rally for Freedom".

Rallies were hosted across Canada and around the globe Saturday, as citizens stood in opposition to pandemic restrictions.

The Sudbury rally kicked off at noon Saturday, and an open mic was made available to those who wanted to make their feelings known.

Messages of "nobody can tell me how to live" were heard by the crowd Saturday, while a firm narrative against lockdowns, masking and vaccinations was spoken through the loudspeaker.

The crowd sang O' Canada in unison as a few Greater Sudbury Police Services officers and bylaw officers watched on from a distance.

Signs denouncing pandemic restrictions were held aloft by rally attendees on the bank overlooking Paris Street, as passing vehicles honked their horns.
