Watch as Wolves mega fan Jim Stefanko has five criticisms about the name of the Sudbury Five pro basketball team.

Like a lot of Sudburians, Jim Stefanko (you know, that Wolves mega fan!) was excited to find out what Sudbury's new professional basketball team will be called.

But a rant video he released yesterday on the name of Sudbury's new pro basketball team went viral on Facebook yesterday, racking up more than 7,000 views and counting.

The name was unveiled yesterday at a press conference at the Red Fang Tavern downtown. In case you missed it, the team that will rep the Nickel City in the National Basketball League of Canada is called the Sudbury Five.

Let's be honest, the name isn't universally loved. The Five is supposed to signify the city's area code (the 705); that the major ore mined here (nickel) is used to make nickels, which of course are worth five cents; Northern Ontario has five major cities; and that each team has five players on the court at any one time.

Criticisms of the name abounded on social media. But not everyone dislikes it. Several commenters said they think the name will grow on them. Others said they appreciated the retro style of the uniforms.

But back to Jim Stefanko. He's a huge fan of the Sudbury Wolves and a big supporter of Wolves owner Dario Zulich (he once wore a t-shirt sporting the words "In Dario we trust"). Zulich also owns the Sudbury Five.

And while he remains very excited to cheer on Sudbury's first pro basketball team, the name isn't sitting well with him, at least on first blush. He wants viewers to know he loves the team and can't wait to watch the Five play, but the name isn't doing it for him.

Fittingly, Stefanko lists the five things he dislikes about the name, the Sudbury Five.
