Video: What the heck is pickleball?

Bringing pickleball to the north

A cross between tennis, badminton, and table tennis, pickleball is played with a paddle and wiffle ball on a court roughly half the size of a tennis court. The nets are lower in pickleball as well. Games are played up to 11 points, with the victor needing to lead by at least two points to win the game.

While the sport's popularity lies mainly among seniors, Sudbury's Bob Miller, who is heading up the local pickleball chapter, says it's great for all ages and believes that the sport has the opportunity to be immensely popular among all age groups.

Check out the video above to see what it's all about!

Currently, Sudbury pickleball players meet at Queen's Athletic Field tennis courts and the YMCA to play.

If you'd like to try pickleball out for yourself or get involved as a volunteer, phone 705-588-2202 for more information.
