In memoriam: André Roach (1940-2020)

Our hearts are broken as we announce the passing of André J. Richard Roach, 80 years of age at Health Science North in Sudbury Ontario. He passed away peacefully with two health care providers from the Palliative Care at his side, on Wednesday, March 18, 2020. He will be dearly missed by all. Thank you for the care that was given to Andre from the nurses, PSW, and Dr. Falk at Health Sciences North.

André was born in Quebec, PQ. February 29, 1940. He was predeceased by his parents Gerald Roach and Adrienne Thibault and by his brother Jean-Marc and sister Diane. He is survived by his sisters Colette (Rodrigue Garon), Huguette, Jocelyne, Micheline (Gilles Laflamme), Louise (Daniel Soucy) and brother Rejean (Claudette Lyonnais). He will forever be remembered by 15 nieces and nephews and his very close friends of 52 years Jean-Marc and Laurette Paquet and their families.

He spent his younger years in Quebec. André enjoyed competing in weight lifting for several years. In 1967, he left for Sudbury, Ont. and started working at the Ministry of Government Services as a roofing inspector. His past time was practising Transcendental meditation and it became his daily routine, reading at the Rainbow Centre food court in Sudbury, also meeting great friends such as Anne, Alain, and many more. For several years, he sponsored a child and helped many organizations.

Cremation took place at the Parklawn Crematorium in Sudbury. André’s interment was previously planned at the St-Charles Cemetery in Quebec, however, he will now be buried at the Civic Memorial Cemetery, 365 Second Avenue North, Sudbury, On., on Oct. 14, 2021, at 2:30 pm. Donations can be made to any organization of your choice.
