The family of a woman from Ontario, killed in Hurricane Dorian as the storm tore through the Bahamas, have started a Gofundme page to bring her remains home.

Alishia Liolli, 27, is from the Windsor area. In less than 24 hours, the online fundraiser has already surpassed its goal of $25,000. At the time of publication, the page has raised $32,196.

According to the Gofundme page, any funds that aren't used for Liolli's transportation will be donated to the Every Child Counts School where she worked.

Around 30 people are now confirmed dead in the island nation.

Meanwhile, the daughter of an Ottawa couple who were missing on Abaco Island in the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian has released a statement on their well-being.

Kristin Dudley said on Facebook, that her parents and another couple from Ottawa, Christine and Doug Wyatt are now in Nassau.

She goes on to say they are 'officially 100 per cent safe'.
