Your first chance to vote in the federal election is today (Friday, Oct. 11), as advance polls have opened to electors.
To find your advance polling station, check your voter information card or use the Voter Information Service.
Vote at your assigned polling station from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on:
- Friday, October 11
- Saturday, October 12
- Sunday, October 13
- Monday, October 14
The regular polls are open October 21, election day.
There are multiple ways to vote, by checking the Elections Canada website.
If you have not received your voter card, you can check with Elections Canada to see if you are registered to vote. Changes can be made up until Oct. 15.
A voter identification card is not required to vote. When you can attend your polling station, you have three options for ID: any government-issued photo ID card that includes your address; two pieces of ID that both include your name, one of which should include your address; some to vouch for you who knows you and is assigned to your polling station (the voucher must be able to prove their identity and address, and the vouchee must declare their name and address in writing).
See your options and the full list of ID accepted at the polls.
To vote in the federal election, you must:
- be a Canadian citizen
- be at least 18 years old on election day, October 21
- prove your identity and address
