Backhoe used in assault as weapon in Northern Ont. incident

SAVARD TOWNSHIP — OPP are investigating an unusual dispute that saw a man use a backhoe to assault another man.

On November 22, officers from the Temiskaming Detachment were told of a dispute that occurred the day before in Savard Township, just west of Englehart.

An argument between two men resulted in the victim being assaulted with a backhoe. Police provided no other details.  

A 50-year-old man from Savard Township is charged with:  

  •  Assault with a weapon
  • Dangerous operation
  • Fail to comply with recognizance

The victim did not sustain any injuries say police.   

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing Tuesday.
