Bicycle patrol officer stops impaired driver

A bicycle cop in New Tecumseth managed to stop an impaired driver on Aug. 11

At around 8:30 p.m. that evening, a constable with the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police patrolling on a bicycle patrols on Beattie Avenue in Alliston, Town of New Tecumseth.

The officer spotted a westbound vehicle driving erratically on Beattie Avenue. The began reversing and veering side to side, almost striking an oncoming vehicle from behind, OPP reported.

The bike cop took off after the vehicle and, somehow, managed to pull him over.

The 27-year-old male driver faces charges of impaired driving, having open liquour in the vehicle, driving without a permit and careless driving.

The accused was also issued a three-day license suspension because he was a novice driver having an alcohol level above zero.
