NIPIGON -- The body of a missing snowmobile rider has been recovered from Lake Nipigon.

Ontario Provincial Police on Sunday said members of the underwater search and recovery unit located the body of 51-year-old Gerald Thompson, three days after he and 45-year-old Nathaniel Thompson were reported missing from Rock Bay First Nation.

A helicopter search crew on Saturday spotted located a submerged snow machine in Lake Nipigon and a second set of tracks leading to another break in the ice.

Gerald Thompson's body was found at about 4 p.m. on Sunday. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Thunder Bay.

The search continues for Nathaniel Thompson.
