NORTH BAY — A scare for hospital staff and patients at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Tuesday.

The North Bay Police say they were called to the hospital around 9:20 a.m.

"Officers worked closely with the North Bay Regional Health Centre staff to search the building and property to ensure the safety of the hospital community, and security of the facility," a North Bay City Police release stated Tuesday night.

Police say they continued with a thorough search of the hospital and area outside the facility until about 11 a.m. and they were unable to find any suspicious packages or devices.

Hospital operations ran normally during the search and there were no evacuations.

BayToday.ca received a tip about the situation around 11:15 a.m. when operations appeared to be back to normal and there was no police presence on the hospital grounds at that time.

The North Bay Police continue their investigation.

Anyone with information that may assist police with this investigation are asked to call North Bay Police at (705) 497-5555 or submit an online tip at nearnorthcrimestoppers.com.
