Here's an odd one from the Nipissing West OPP.
They report the arrest of a man openly driving a vehicle down a city street, towing a trailer carrying another vehicle. All three vehicles were stolen, and police discovered an open container of liquor near the driver.
Police arrested and charged the male driver with possession of stolen property.
It happened on January 4 at 7 p.m., as police responded to a traffic complaint about a stolen vehicle being towed on a trailer on Larocque Street, near Field in West Nipissing.
Police found and stopped the vehicle. "The investigation revealed both vehicles and the trailer had been stolen and the driver was arrested," says Constable Rob Lewis.
A 35-year-old Field man is charged with:
- Failure to comply with a release order
- Theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle
- Possession of break-in instruments
- Three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Drive with the seat belt assembly modified
- Use a plate not authorized for the vehicle
- The entire plate is not plainly visible
- Drive a motor vehicle with no licence
- Draw trailer, no plate
- Driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 6 in North Bay.
