The officer has returned from the building and is being removed from the suit.

An officer has been equipped with a bomb suit and is approaching the police station.

A witness tells SooToday that police appear to be using a robot to investigate.

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is warning the public not to go to the city police station after a citizen dropped off what is suspected to be an 'unexploded device'.

The Second Line East building is sealed off while police investigate, said Inspector Mike Kenopic.

The city police's explosive disposal unit is investigating the item.

Firefighters and paramedics are on scene.

City police issued the following news release warning the public to stay away from the site.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service as asking that all members of the public refrain from attending at the Police Services Building on Second Line East until further notice.
