There may be some merit in the cliché that Canadians are the nicest people around, according to a new report.
The Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) Canada released its 2019 report. It says that nearly two thirds of Canadians claim to have donated money in the last year, whether it be to chairty, church or some sort of sponsorship.
The average amount donated also saw a significant increase, rising to $150, up from $104 the previous year.
"It’s wonderful to see that millions of Canadian people have such a passion for helping those less fortunate, whether that’s by donating to charity, sponsoring a loved one or volunteering locally," Ted Hard, President of CAF Canada said in a release.
The report found that nearly three quarters of Canadians believe that charities have a positive influence on their community.
Age can apparently be a factor in how generous you are, with the young and the baby-boomers both saying in large numbers that they have undertaken a charitable activity in the last year.
