NORTH BAY — Hall of Fame marathon swimmer Marilyn Korzekwa is planning a July swim across Lake Nipissing in July to raise money for a local charity.

The swim of approximately 28 km, will be done without a wetsuit and without any rest.

It has never been done before and is sanctioned by Solo Swims of Ontario.

Korzekwa has an impressive resume.

She has done some difficult swims, including Lake Ontario in1984, the English Channel in 2011, and around Manhattan in 2014.

According to Solo Swims, Korzekwa was the first Canadian to complete the Triple Crown of Marathon Swimming - The English ChannelThe Manhattan Island swim, and the Catalina Channel.

She was the first person to have completed Lake Ontario swims from both south-to-north and north-to-south on September 1-2, 1983 and August 17-18, 1984

All donations from the swim will be given to the Nipissing Association for Disabled Youth (NADY) to help Nipissing Trackers (a ski program for
special needs children in the area).
