KENORA, Ont. — A justice of the peace has fined a Timmins man $3,500 and issued a lengthy licence suspension in connection with an incident in October 2017.

Court was told that Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers conducted a white-tailed deer decoy operation on Tri Lake Road near Nestor Falls.

After setting up the decoy, they observed a man driving a pickup truck stop and fire two shots from his rifle down the length of the road in the direction of the fake deer.

In addition to being fined for carelessly discharging a firearm, the man lost his hunting privileges for three years and must pass the Ontario hunter education course before he can apply for another licence.
