Elliot Lake teen flees after killing dog in car accident

OPP have charged an unlicensed 16-year-old after a dog was struck and killed in Elliot Lake by an SUV.

Police received a call from a dog owner who was walking the pet near the Esten Lake boat launch in Elliot Lake on Aug. 13.

A black SUV struck and killed the dog and then fled the scene. The owner got the plate number and pieces from the damaged vehicle.

On August 20, OPP charged a teenage driver who was involved in the accident.

A 16-year-old from Elliot Lake is charged with:

  • Drive a motor vehicle with no licence
  • Fail to report an accident
