By late-afternoon Thursday, the Ministry of Natural Resources is reporting no new forest fires in the Northeast Region of the province.

The fire situation in the area includes 10 active fires in the regi9on, all of which continue to be observed.

The fire hazard is low to moderate in the central and southern portions of the region while areas near Wawa and further north are showing a moderate to high hazard.

In the Northwest Region, one new fire was confirmed on Thursday afternoon.

Thunder Bay 90, which is located approximately 58 km southwest of Thunder Bay, is currently not under control at 0.1 hectares.

As of late Thursday afternoon, there were 105 active fires in the northwest, 12 of which are not under control.

Among the fires not under control in that area is Kenora 51, which is located northwest of Kenora near the Ontario/Manitoba border.

The fire is currently measuring in at 200,667 hectares.

The MNR is reporting that "High relative humidity values, lower temperatures, cloud cover, and recent rainfall are expected to limit fire behavour today, though moderate to high winds are having a drying effect on forest fuels and helping burning conditions to rebound faster."
