Fort Frances man arrested for using bear spray on people

FORT FRANCES, Ont. — Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a local man in connection with a July incident that saw three individuals sprayed with bear spray.

OPP announced that a 31-year-old man was arrested Wednesday and charged with three counts of Assault with a Weapon, and with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

On the late evening of July 24, 2018, OPP were called to a reported disturbance at a gas station on King's Highway in Fort Frances. 

Officers found that three people had been sprayed with a noxious substance, and had suffered minor injuries.

The suspect in the case had already fled the scene when police arrived. 

The North West Region Emergency Response Team and an OPP canine unit,were called out to assist in a search which proved fruitless at the time.
