There has been a major shake up in the city's Environmental Services department.

Gone are General Manager of Environmental Services Ramesh Ummat and Manager of Wastewater Services Kiran Suresh.

No reason for their departure's was given.

Ummat had been on the job for one year. Suresh started working for the city in 2011.

Longtime city employee Peter Busatto has been promoted to the Manager of Environmental Services position.

Busatto has worked in water services since 2006, most recently as plant manager of water services.

A short news release on the moves, which happened late last week, said the City of Guelph had "parted ways" with Ummat and Suresh, although the news release did not mention either person by name.

"We thank the incumbents in these positions for their contributions and wish them well in their future endeavours," the release said.

The news release was from Deputy CAO of Infrastructure, Development and Enterprise Services Scott Stewart's name attached to it but Stewart was out of the office and unavailable for comment on Monday.

Ummat came to Guelph in August of last year from the County of Cochester in Nova Scotia, where he had served as CAO.

At the time, Deputy CAO Al Horseman said that "(Ummat's) track record for innovation and leadership were standout features of his application, and the city looks forward to his stewardship in this new role."
