Jeopardy contestants blank on Northern Ontario question

Even given the category Thunder and Lightning, none of the three contestants buzzed in or could come up with our city's name.

A question from the Monday, May 22, 2017 edition of Jeopardy.

THUNDER BAY – Monday’s Jeopardy contestants proved geographically challenged when it came to Northwestern Ontario’s largest city.

None of the three participants on the game show’s latest episode were able to answer the following question: “Lying on the shore of Lake Superior, this Ontario city was created in 1970 from the twin cities of Port Arthur and Fort William.”

Not one of the contestants buzzed in to answer the $1,000, first-round question in the category Thunder and Lightning.

Canadian host Alex Trebek was only too happy to provide the answer.

“You know it better today as Thunder Bay,” Trebek said.
