THUNDER BAY — The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is trying to track down a man offering to sell a litter of extremely young puppies.
According to the OSPCA, the dogs were only a couple of days old when the man was last seen carrying them in a duffel bag on the south side of Thunder Bay around Oct. 29.
The society is concerned about the pups' welfare, saying they need proper care and are being subjected to "undue and unnecessary hardship."
OSPCA agent Jeremy Gardiner says the dogs are believed to be a bulldog mix.
"They're too young to be away from their mother...They need to be with her for eight weeks," Gardiner said.
"We're just looking for information in regards to the gentleman himself, or where these puppies or their mother are located now. He's a Caucasian male in his late thirties or so. That's about all we've got."
Gardiner said anyone who has a description of the man, or anyone who purchased one of the pups, should phone the OSPCA at 310-SPCA or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 anonymously.
"These dogs definitely need either medical care or ongoing care, for sure," he said.
