The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is seeking the public’s help in identifying the person or people responsible for killing and abandoning four cow moose and a bull moose near White River.

The ministry reports that sometime between Sept. 7 and Nov. 1, conservation officers became aware of five moose shot and abandoned at several locations along the Road 50 loop. Officers located:

  • A bull moose off Road 50, approximately two kilometres from North Reagan Road
  • A cow moose near kilometre nine on Road 100
  • A cow moose 12 kilometres down North Reagan Road, off Highway 17
  • Two cow moose six kilometres down North Reagan Road, off Highway 17.

The ministry is hoping someone out there has information that can help them track down who's responsible for cruelly killing the animals and then wasting the meat. Anyone with information can contact the ministry’s TIPS line at 1-877-847-7667 toll-free any time, or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

You can also call the ministry’s Wawa office during regular business hours at (705) 856-2396. And visit here to view an interactive, searchable map of unsolved cases. You may be able to provide information that will help solve a case.
