More people are booking campsites this summer

Reservations for Northern Ontario provincial parks have nearly doubled so far this year

Camping is trending this year, with reservations at Ontario Parks up about 100 per cent over last year across the province.

The number of reservations at Ontario Parks in the north has nearly doubled compared to last year. 

From Jan. 1 to Feb. 25, Ontario Parks reports there were 28,538 reservations for provincial parks in Northern Ontario. During the same period in 2020, there were 14,497 reservations. 

"This is consistent with reservation trends across the province, which are showing a 100 per cent increase in reservations for provincial parks over last year," said Gary Wheeler, Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks spokesperson.

Across Ontario from Jan. 1 to Feb. 5, Ontario Parks reported there had been 57,475 reservations across the province, which is up from 29,504 from the same period in 2020.

For people looking to camp at Ontario Parks this summer, bookings open up five months in advance of your trip's start date. The reservation system opens at 7 a.m.
