NORTH BAY — The Near North District School Board has sent redundancy letters to 114 area high school teachers. They each got the personalized notifications that they have no jobs next year.
"You have caused devastation to the face of education @NearNorthSchool as the #nndsb gave official, that means REAL @VictorFedeli, layoff notices to 114 teachers today. Programs fade, courses disappear. Students have fewer options, schools will struggle to stay open" says one tweet.
Another says, "This is what an #involuntary #JobLoss looks like. One that @VictorFedeli & @fordnation promised wouldn’t occur. I’m 1 of 114 teachers in the #NNDSB who received one of these. #CutsHurtKids @District4TBU @osstf How “preposterous” is it now Vic?"
The letter does indicate that "As our Board continues to receive important funding information, critical to inform our staffing and budgeting work for the upcoming school year, it is our hope that you will be recalled."\
There are 240 secondary school teachers employed by the Board.
