OPP tells BayToday that no one was injured after an ice hut near the Manitou Islands off North Bay either exploded or caught fire Sunday afternoon.

The smoke could be seen from  North Bay.

OPP got the call at 2:25 p.m. to attend the site halfway between Lonely Island and Manitou.

"Officers were patrolling the lake on snowmobiles at the time and responded," said Cst. Shona Camirand  "There were no injuries reported.  I can’t confirm the cause, or if it was a fire or explosion. I know that when officers arrived, there was nothing left."

Unconfirmed reports on social media blamed a propane tank explosion inside the hut.
