NORTH BAY — A North Bay woman faces impaired charges after police found her slumped over a steering wheel during the afternoon.
On August 25 at 2 p.m., North Bay OPP officers got a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Highway 94 in Callander.
Officers arrived at the lookout parking lot to find two people in a U-Haul van.
After speaking to the two female occupants, the driver was arrested at the scene and brought back to the North Bay Police Service for further testing.
Officers searched the vehicle and found a small amount of suspected white fentanyl, purple fentanyl, and Percocet.
Both the driver and passenger were arrested and charged.
A 29-year-old North Bay woman is charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood drug concentration
- Three counts of possession of a controlled substance
A 19-year-old woman from West Nipissing is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance.
The two women were released on undertakings with a date to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on October 27.
The driver's licence was subject to a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
This incident marks 32 drivers charged under the criminal impaired driving laws in the North Bay Detachment in the year 2020, 10 of which were impaired by drug.
