THUNDER BAY — The Conservative party has chosen a Thunder Bay woman to carry its colours in the federal election in a riding that's thousands of kilometres away.

Lea Mollison could not be reached for comment Monday.

According to the NWT Conservative Association, she works at a breast screening clinic in Thunder Bay where she helps facilitate testing for at-risk women in Northern Ontario.

Mollison was born and raised in Saskatchewan where she spent her first 16 years.

She completed her BA in Native Studies at the University of Saskatchewan in 2012.

The biography posted by the NWT riding association says that as a mother of three and wife of a military member, Mollison has moved across western Canada over the past 20 years while supporting her husband and children.

The bio does not indicate whether she has been to the Northwest Territories or how she plans to campaign there.
