Online romance leads to death threat

French man charged with threatening
computer crime

It's a story of romance gone sour, then dangerous for a North Bay woman.

Police say a man from France and his victim from North Bay met on social media in May last year and continued the online relationship until this June.

When the woman tried to end the relationship, the man said her he would find her and kill her.

Last month the man reconnected with the victim, and on October 15, he travelled from France to North Bay to meet the victim.

He was arrested at a local restaurant for uttering threats.

North Bay Police have arrested and charged a 21-year-old man of Louzac, Poitou Charentes, France with:

  • Knowingly convey a threat

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
