Ontario Northland is reducing select northern Ontario routes to Toronto including routes out of North Bay.

The change was made effective Feb. 7.

Bus service between North Bay and Toronto, and Sudbury and Toronto, will be reduced as the company responds to a decline in ridership and further support the current provincial Stay-At-Home order.

"It is a temporary reduction, while still providing at minimum a daily service to Toronto from North Bay and Sudbury for essential travel and parcel shipping," Renee Baker, ONR's communications manager, told BayToday in an email on Wednesday.

Impacted routes include Toronto-North Bay and Toronto-Sudbury. Four of eight trips between Toronto-North Bay are cancelled as are two of six trips between Toronto-Sudbury.

COVID-19 health and safety measures remain in effect. Passengers are required to wear a mask and should be prepared for health screening prior to boarding.

"Ontario Northland has always encouraged travelling for essential purposes only such as, attending a medical appointment, travelling for work or to access essential supplies," added Baker.
