OPP investigating death of an infant in Elliot Lake yesterday

Four-month-old was in medical distress at home when paramedics arrived

East Algoma OPP in Elliot Lake are investigating the death of an infant after being called to a home on Mississauga Avenue last night.

On Dec. 27 shortly after 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a call for medical assist call at a residence on Mississauga Avenue in Elliot Lake. 

When first responders arrived, they found a four-month-old male infant in medical distress and transported the young child to hospital by ambulance.

Unfortunately, the boy was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The East Algoma OPP, East Algoma OPP Crime Unit, the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and the Office of the Chief Coroner are investigating. Further information is expected to become released as it becomes available.
