Guelph Police report minor injuries in jacket attack that included mother, two small children

The bus driver and a concerned citizen got involved, say police

On July 19, 2016 at 10:43 a.m., the Guelph Police went to Macdonell Street to investigate the report of an assault.

It is alleged that at approximately 10:35 a.m. a male riding a Guelph Transit bus became agitated and lashed out at a woman and her two small children by swinging his jacket at them.

The bus driver attempted to intervene only to have the man go after him.

A concerned citizen then tried to assist the driver when the man then went after him as well.

The citizen was able to defend himself which halted the situation until police arrived and arrested the man. Minor injuries are reported.

Daniel Williams, 61 years old of Guelph, has been charged with four counts of assault. He will appear in court on September 2, 2016.
