In a bold response to tough times, the Gore Street Cafe has announced patrons may now pay whatever they wish for regular meals served this summer.

"I've decided to make all regular lunches and brunches PWYC (pay what you can) for the rest of summer," owner Nicole Dyble wrote tonight on the eatery's Facebook page.

Dyble has been struggling recently with Gore Street torn up by major road reconstruction and the departure of her business partner to Toronto last week.

As SooToday reported earlier today, Dyble held a well-attended community consultation this week to get ideas and support to keep the popular cafe open.

Friday's menu includes pan-seared local lake trout with spiced lentils, kohlrabi and snap peas.

Located at 164 Gore, the cafe is open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday.

It will serve lunch the same hours on Saturday and Sunday.
