SAULT STE. MARIE — The F.J. Davey Home has confirmed a new confirmed case of COVID-19 in a staff member at the home.

The long-term care home has declared a presumptive outbreak as a result of the positive case.

Algoma Public Health stated the individual was tested on Monday and is currently self-isolating.

Since the exposure category is unknown, the health unit says this case is evidence of ongoing community spread in the Sault and area.

All close contacts have been notified.

This marks the Algoma region's 29th case. The 28th case, which was a staffer at the Ontario Finnish Rest Home, came negative after a second test was conducted.
