The World’s Largest Rubber Duck left the Sault over the weekend to go to Midland, On — its next stop on the Ontario 150 tour.

During its brief stay in the Sault, some loved it, some questioned its price tag, and others asked why they didn’t get something more Canadian to celebrate Canada’s sesquicentennial.

Americans got a clear view of the duck from across the river, especially those on Soo Locks Boat Tours.

The boat tours went right in front of Clergue Park giving tourists an unobstructed view and a chance to take clear pictures that you just couldn't get in the park itself.

Mary Barber was visiting the area from Pickford, Mich. and decided to take her children on a boat tour because the duck looked ‘neat’ and she thought it would be nice to take selfies with it without having to cross the border.

The kids liked it.

“It was… cute… and big,” said Isabelle, 9.

“It looked like I could play with it and jump off it,” said Morgan, 9.

Rick Jensen of Grand Rapids took a boat tour as well.

“One of the first questions we had when we got on the boat was, what is this rubber duck?

They did a great job of explaining it was for Canada 150… it was definitely the biggest duck I’ve ever seen,” said Jensen.

Brook Alloway, from Alpena, Mi, said the duck surprised her.

“It’s an odd thing to see on a riverscape,” she said.

Her mom Nancy Alloway, from Boston, said she wasn’t sure if it had been there years or days or whether it was a building.

“I had questions about whether you could go in it, on it, or was it inflated?” she said.
