Sault worker died after being struck by vehicle, ministry says

Ministry of Labour continuing with investigation, spokesperson says

The Ministry of Labour has confirmed a workplace fatality happened Friday, Apr. 7, 2017 in Sault Ste. Marie.

“We were notified on Friday a worker was struck by a vehicle, causing fatal injuries,” said Janet Deline, Ministry of Labour spokesperson, speaking to SooToday Monday.

The fatal accident happened at a business located at 1191 Great Northern Road (Ontario Concrete).

Sault Ste. Marie Police Services and Ministry of Labour officials investigated before determining there was no criminal element to the fatality.

As a result, continuing investigation is being conducted by the Ministry of Labour.

Privacy legislation prevents the name, gender or age of the victim from being released by the Ministry of Labour, Deline told SooToday.
