COBALT — A snowmobile rider was injured Saturday after being tossed from the machine just west of Cobalt.

On February 15, shortly after 7:30 p.m., Temiskaming Detachment OPP officers and Temiskaming District Emergency Medical Services responded to a snowmobile accident that occurred on a trail near Lady Evelyn Lake in Barr Township, near Mowat Landing.

Investigation revealed that the snowmobiler had been travelling with a group on a nearby trail when the snow machine collided with a raised bank that was across the trail. The sled remained at the site of the incident and the driver was taken to a nearby cottage for medical attention.

The rider sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries, and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the collision, say police.
