The Rolling Stones famously wrote in their smash hit Street Fightin' Man, "Cause summer's here and the time is right for fighting in the street," and a pair of family members took it literally say OPP.

On April 8, at 7:11 p.m., OPP officers were called to a family dispute in Elliot Lake.

A man had called the police to report that he was assaulted and threatened with a baseball bat.

When police arrived on the scene, they found two men who were yelling obscenities at each other and about to exchange knuckle sandwiches.

Both refused to co-operate with officers so both were promptly cuffed and arrested.

As a result, a 48-year-old Elliot Lake man was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for being intoxicated in a public place.

He was held in police custody overnight and released the next morning.

A 38-year-old Elliot Lake man was charged with:

  • Being intoxicated in a public place
  • Fail to comply with Recognizance

He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake, Ontario on May 2.

Back to the Stones, it was such a great song it deserves a replay here.
