THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has removed a COVID-19 case from its database, citing a technical issue at the lab.

According to a release, a positive test analyzed by the lab, located in southern Ontario, was incorrect.

Further testing of the initial sample, and a repeat test done locally, provide negative as well.

As a result, the individual who was tested is no longer considered a case and has been removed from the case count, as well as the provincial database of positive cases.

The adjusted numbers show 103 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Thunder Bay district, with one active case. There has been one death as a result of the virus.
